Managing Director, PPS: Business Leadership for Civic Trust

Public Private Strategies, LLC (PPS) seeks an experienced and entrepreneurial Managing Director to lead the next phase of growth for PPS: Business Leadership for Civic Trust.
This is a senior leadership role responsible for managing and expanding an established national initiative that works with business leaders, investors, trade associations, philanthropy, and civic organizations to strengthen civic trust, support resilient institutions, and advance economic opportunity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Initiative Leadership & Growth
- Lead the day-to-day management and strategic growth of the Business & Democracy Initiative
- Develop and execute plans to increase the initiative's impact, visibility, and influence
- Identify opportunities to expand programming, partnerships, and engagement
- Establish and track goals, metrics, and outcomes to ensure strong execution and measurable impact
- Work closely with PPS leadership to align initiative priorities with organizational goals
- Fundraising & Resource Development
- Lead fundraising efforts to sustain and grow the initiative
- Cultivate and steward relationships with foundations, corporations, major donors, and philanthropic partners
- Develop grant proposals, concept papers, reports, and fundraising materials
- Identify new funding opportunities and manage the initiative's fundraising pipeline
- Meet annual revenue and fundraising targets
- Partner & Coalition Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with business leaders, investors, trade associations, chambers of commerce, nonprofits, and civic organizations
- Convene and coordinate diverse stakeholders around shared objectives
- Ensure meaningful partner engagement and long-term collaboration
- Democracy, Rule of Law & Election Protection
- Advance initiatives focused on democratic resilience, election protection, civic engagement, and the rule of law
- Monitor developments in the democracy and governance landscape and identify opportunities for strategic engagement
- Collaborate with experts, advocates, policymakers, business leaders, and civic organizations to develop impactful programs and initiatives
- External Representation & Thought Leadership
- Represent PPS and the initiative at conferences, convenings, meetings, and public events
- Serve as a trusted advisor and thought partner to funders, business leaders, and coalition partners
- Develop presentations, reports, briefing materials, and strategic recommendations for internal and external audiences
Qualifications:
Required
- 10+ years of experience in philanthropy, public policy, democracy, civic engagement, advocacy, economic opportunity, or related fields
- Demonstrated success securing and managing major philanthropic investments
- Deep understanding of democracy, election protection, democratic resilience, and rule-of-law issues
- Experience organizing, convening, or mobilizing business leaders around public policy, civic engagement, or societal challenges
- Strong relationship management and coalition-building skills
- Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills
- Proven ability to manage complex projects and multiple stakeholders simultaneously
Preferred
- Existing relationships with leaders in philanthropy, business, democracy, and civic engagement sectors
- Experience managing national coalitions or multi-stakeholder initiatives
- Experience working directly with corporate leaders, investors, trade associations, or chambers of commerce
- Experience supervising staff, consultants, and external partners

Position Details
Location: Washington, DC (Hybrid)
Start Date: August 2026
Compensation: $120,000 - 150,000 (annually)
