Katie Vlietstra Wonnenberg is an accomplished executive leader and public policy strategist with more than 20 years of experience shaping national debates and driving meaningful public policy change at the intersection of the public and private sector. Recognized for her ability to navigate complex political and economic landscapes, Katie has built a career at the intersection of government, business, and advocacy—delivering solutions that address pressing policy and market challenges on a wide range of issues, including small business, health care, tax, and caregiving. 


Throughout her career, Katie has led high-level initiatives in Washington, D.C., corporate boardrooms, and legislatures across the country. She has designed and executed government relations strategies that have secured critical legislation on issues ranging from tax to immigration, while also helping to drive billions of dollars in federal investment to support job creation and disaster recovery efforts. Her inclusive and results-oriented leadership style has made her a trusted advisor to policymakers, Fortune 50 companies, and Main Street businesses alike.


Currently, Katie serves as a Principal at Public Private Strategies and as President of the Business for America’s Future Fund, where she partners with government leaders, foundations, nonprofits, and corporations to develop solutions to the nation’s most urgent policy challenges. She also continues to provide strategic guidance on federal advocacy and public affairs to the National Association for the Self-Employed (NASE).



Earlier in her career, Katie was a member of the Texas Federal Relations team, where she advanced priorities related to tax policy, hurricane recovery, immigration, and housing. She has also lent her political expertise to several presidential campaigns, including McCain–Palin and Romney–Ryan.

A frequent commentator on economic and policy issues, Katie has appeared in the New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, Politico, Fox News, C-SPAN, and MSNBC. She lives in Washington, D.C.
