Nomination of Don Cravins to Oversee Minority Business Development Agency Is A Critical Step Forward For Strengthening Our Economy
Statement by Rhett Buttle, President and Founder of Public Private Strategies and former national business advisor at Biden for President, on today’s nomination of Donald R. Cravins Jr. as Under Secretary of Commerce for Minority Business Development
Washington, D.C., –
”I am elated to celebrate the nomination of Don Cravins Jr. to serve as Under Secretary of Commerce for Minority Business Development. In this role, he will lead the Minority Business Development Agency, a crucial agency that supports businesses of all shapes and sizes in communities across America.
“The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law included key provisions to permanently authorize the Minority Business Development Agency, and created the new Under Secretary position to which Don has been nominated. Don’s nomination is a reflection of the bipartisan efforts to strengthen the federal government’s dedicated support for minority-owned small businesses.
“Don and I worked closely together when he was in the United States Senate to encourage business investment and create jobs following the financial crisis of 2008. Our partnership has continued during his important leadership at The National Urban League. Don is eminently qualified to lead the critical work of the Minority Business Development Agency as we work to ensure that minority-owned businesses can grow and thrive coming out of the COVID-19 pandemic. It is my sincere hope that the United States Senate will move swiftly to confirm Don to this role and ensure that businesses continue to have all of the available tools to recover from the Covid-19 pandemic.”
